  16.         SYMPTOM:  UNABLE TO INSTALL DR DOS ON A NEC DOS 3.3

  19.   ISSUE/PROBLEM:  NEC DOS 3.3 disk partitioning schemes are not
  20. compatible with either Compaq DOS 3.31 or DR DOS.  NEC Powermates
  21. are shipped with NEC DOS 3.3.  This version of DOS has been HIGHLY
  22. modified from standard DOS 3.3.  One of the changes in this version
  23. is that the NEC FDISK utility can create partitions larger than 32
  24. MB on the hard drive.

  26.        SOLUTION:  Remove the existing partitions with NEC FDISK and
  27. recreate them with DR DOS FDISK.  DR DOS will then install. 
  28. Removing the partitions with NEC FDISK is the only solution.
  29.  
  30.            NOTE:  Running FDISK will result in the loss of all data
  31. on the disk. It is advisable to have a backup on hand prior to
  32. conducting this procedure.
